Christopher Julius Rock is an American comedian, actor, writer, producer, and director widely regarded as one of the greatest stand-up comedians of all time. Born in Andrews, South Carolina and raised in Brooklyn, New York, Rock rose from humble beginnings to become a defining voice in American comedy. Rock first gained national attention as a cast member on Saturday Night Live in the early 1990s, then broke out with his HBO specials "Bring the Pain" (1996) and "Bigger & Blacker" (1999), which earned him Emmy Awards and cemented his reputation for incisive social commentary on race, relationships, and American culture.
