Biography
Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu, professionally known as Burna Boy, is a Nigerian Afro-fusion singer and songwriter born on July 2, 1991, in Port Harcourt, Nigeria. Raised in a family with a strong affinity for music and activism — his grandfather was a manager for Fela Kuti — Burna Boy embarked on his musical career in the early 2010s, blending Afrobeat, dancehall, reggae, and American rap into a distinctive sound he calls Afro-fusion. His 2018 album African Giant catapulted him to international fame, and he has since become one of the most celebrated African artists globally. In 2021, he won the Grammy Award for Best Global Music Album for Twice as Tall, cementing his status as a global icon and ambassador for African music.
